ENOUGH!!!

I am going to quit World of Warcraft.

*****

The time has come. It's not because I'm not enjoying my time with the horde, quite the opposite in fact. I love my character dearly. The Orc Warrior Glyph IS the digital me! I can't stop thinking about how amazing my new [GargoyleBite] pole arm will be. I put a bid on it last night, who knows if I'll get it. I almost got the very rare [BloodSpiller] axe! I was out bid on it at the last minute by someone. The thought crossed my mind that it might be worth spending RL money on it. The bloodSpiller is THAT incredible.

Why do I get excited about virtual axes? Glyph has a number of very good reasons. Is he real? Yes, because he is me! However, the real me doesn't get anything from Glyph's heroic actions. That's why I have to quit. It's impossible to play a little bit. They structure the game so it's all or nothing. They NEED your time to justify taking your money. They will do anything to keep me trapped in the digital world! It's not really my decision to make. (Anyone whe knows me well will know what I mean when I say this) My loyalty to Blizzards share holders pales in comparison to the devotion of MY share holders.

My life is too good to ignore, for now anyway. Perhaps the time will come when I have nothing to look forward to but splitting skulls with the glorious Bloodspiller. Until then, I'm through with online games. Thanks for the great times AntiHeroes. Kill some Paladins for me and send me pictures.

There is only ONE thing that will allow me to come back.
The day my upper body looks as good as Glyph's, I'll re join the horde.

So, a green light goes out in the star ocean.

I can't believe you're abandoning us so soon! It's summer, you just graduated, and you've been looking forward to playing this game for as long as I can remember. I can't think of a better time to play. Not to mention that if you do come back later you won't be playing in a guild with twenty of your friends...

Can it be true? Is someone actually freeing themselves?? ... If we're using the word "abandon," he's right, it's either one or the other, so then I see his point; I guess it's the real world that is "abandoned" for the wonders of the game. So, if it is true... I would be the first to say, Welcome back.

You know, balence is a good thing sometimes. Are you not capable of playing in moderation? What's the worst that would happen with you only playing once/week?

I don't play that often because I'm still working, painting, socializing, getting fresh air, etc. But every once in awhile I'll log on, clobber some plainstriders/do some crazy quest with friends, then log off for a few more days. You might fall behind the crazies that spend hours and hours on and will be at level 60 before Taste of Manitoba hits Winnipeg, but I'm sure they'll still quest with you, and better yet, you can quest with me! I'm getting MEDIUM LEATHER now!

You've been looking forward to this game for so long that this rash decision has just surprised me a lot (so much so that I've posted on one of these things for the FIRST time ever!). Glyph is my favourite to quest with! We make such a good team!

I'm not trying to change your mind if it's already made up, but I am pointing out that WoW doesn't have to be an alternate method of living your life, but rather a welcomed additional hobby to engage in once in awhile.

As yet another perpetually busy person, I too must ask why you cannot find some middle ground here. In my own case, I've kept up relativly well with the group dispite having to take several breaks from the game due to life- They have the rest bonus for a reason!

Still, if it's the time/money quandery, I understand where you're coming from.. Still, just think of all the tank/rogue double teaming we have yet to do! The shiny daggers you gave me, you have yet to see the havok they can rain down upon unsusprecting foes!

Just do what you want. You always have so I guess it doesn't have to be said. Though I will say it is a bit of a surprise; you seem good at the balance thing.

The fact that you guys are giving me a hard time for quitting just proves my points.

I want NOTHING more than to play online with you guys. The level of pleasure I experience when I do is amazing. However, I accomplish my summer goals. World of Warcraft is just getting in the way at the moment.

I know I'd have the same problem if I joined WoW... hell, I have the same problem with some offline games. If moderation is simply impossible to accomplish, then you probably made the right choice.
