CRAZY ASIAN DRINKS

Today a friend from work took me out for lunch. We went to the Asian food store after and got some crazy Asian drinks!

I found this website because as soon as I got back to the office I looked up hawthorn berry drink (which tastes like BBQ sauce). I thought I was crazy but no.

My friend got ALOE VERA DRINK with honey.

apparently we are not the only ones who like to give those wacky Asian drinks a try. Hawthorn berry drink doesn't have "A taste that everybody will be pleased with" as the label claims! Instead it fuckin grossed out all members of the Parks Canada staff, and some of their children! Next time I want to add some flavor to some BBQ I'll be sure to consider Hawthron Berry Drink!

The aloe drink starts off fine until big hunks of slimy translucent aloe plant start invading your mouth. You can try to fight them off but they slide right past all your defenses. If you strain out the aloe and enjoy it as a treat after you enjoy the drink, it's almost passable as a drink.

I think I may have made the wrong decision when I chose Hawthorn Berry Drink over Birds Nest drink "made with genuine birds nests". I don't think it's possible for a birds nests to be any less refreshing than BBQ sauce.

Not Dead!

I got an e-mail from my dad today. This means that he managed to make his way all the way to southern China without becoming dead on the way. *high five*

The Great Leap Forward

My dad left for Clifford School in Guangdong, China at 4:50 this morning. After some final instructions on condo maintenance he gave Lynx a treat, gave me a hug and left. One of the best things about being a Britton is the mercifully short goodbyes.

After the door closed Lynx and I exchanged glances as if to say, “ well… He’s gone. What now?” With that, Lynx knocked the laser pointer off the shelf and looked at me expectantly. “Don’t dwell, move forward!” Cats have good advice.

A Future Tense

For the first time in my life I'm not sure what I'm going to be doing in the near future. I suppose I should be looking for a job now and I kind of am, I'm just not looking as seriously as I could be. I'm weary of putting a serious amount of effort into finding a job I'm going to have to quit right away.

For the past 6 years I haven't had any serious time off other than Christmas and reading week/spring break. If I don't spend any money I can afford to take a little time off work.

I've never applied for a REAL job before. I've always been a student. I've gone though a myriad of great summer student jobs. They always pay well and end in time for school.

The smell of back to school was in the air the other day, the tinge of excitement I felt was un founded. What does back to school smell like? A difficult aroma to explain. Farmers burning off their fields and the scent of late summer quickly slipping away is part of it.

I'm excited to see what I come up with! I may end up working at APTN, perhaps a kitchen somewhere... A Bass Teacher perhaps? Who knows. If you know of any good leads let me know.

Working hard, playing even harder!

Working for parks and performing in Chai day after day makes me tired. It's times like these when I miss those summers when I didn't work full time. It wouldn't be so bad, but right now I'm finishing up a 7 day work stretch. Thank G-d for the Shabbat!

Why do Jewish people spell God G-d?

Almost done! I've learned so much from this experience. I don't know if they want me to stay or if they want me to leave. They are talking about doing a US tour. I don't know what I would say if they asked me to stay.

I just talked to Kevin. It seems that I am going to be doing another radio show. This one might be at a good time!
